22 Nov “Swaraksha for Women and girls”
Hundreds of girl students of Mount Carmel Central School in association with www.mangaloren.comorganized a self defense programme to girl students and lady staff called “swaraksha for women and girls” on November 22, 2014.
Hundreds of girls took part with great enthusiasm and learnt a number of self defense techniques demonstrated by Karthik S Kateel. Mrs.Sylvia Fernandes welcomed the gathering and introduced Karthik to the students. On the dais were Karthik’s mother, Principal of the School – Sr. Melissa A.C, and Mr. Alfie D’souza, representing Mangalorean.com.
Sr. Melissa A.C addressing the students said that if you could learn and follow the self- defense techniques that would be demonstrated by Karthik, it could definitely help you to face any odd situations of life now or later. With so many atrocities/crimes on women happening these days, this programme will surely help you in protecting yourself when you are attacked. She thanked Mangalorean.com for arranging such a useful programme which will benefit all. Rebecca Albuquerque, the head girl proposed the vote of thanks.
After the formal programme, six times National and 16 times State winner in Martial Arts demonstrations, Martial Arts Guru Karthik S Kateel demonstrated a number of self-defense techniques to the students and made some of them even to practice these techniques. At the end of this fruitful programme, he also entertained the students with some of his unique karate techniques and stunts.
