69th Independence Day Celebration

69th Independence Day celebrations was held at Mount Carmel Central School on August 15, 2015 in the school premises. The whole atmosphere was filled with sense of pride and patriotism. The programme commenced at 8:20 am with the hoisting of the tri-colour flag by the Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Stervin Fernando S.C.J together with the guest of honour, Mr. Gonzaga (French citizen), Joint Secretary, Sr. Ida Barboza, Administrator Sr. Carissima and Principal Sr. Melissa paid their respect. National Anthem, Jhanda Geeth was sung followed by a well-coordinated march past by the students of class IV – XII.

A spectacular cultural programme was presented by Class IX and XI students. The programme began with a prayer service. Rebecca Albuquerque welcomed the gathering. Students performed a dance drama titled “The flame burns bright” showcasing the major events leading to our independence.
The Chief Guest delivered his Independence Day message, in which he urged the students to bring patriotism in their routine life.

Prizes were distributed by the dignitaries to the winners of various competitions held in the school from June 2015 till date. The programme culminated with  vote of thanks by Rhea Rodrigues and distribution of sweets. Sowmya Sumith and Ryan Dsa compeered the programme.

The Nursery to Class III students kept up the celebration on the previous day. Mrs. Fanita Jennifer Mishra, founder and Principal of Mystical Rose Pre-School at Kasargod was the chief guest.

The programme began with a prayer service followed by the students enacting a skit highlighting the patriotic service towards our country. They also had a power point presentation “My India My Pride” showcasing India’s struggle for Independence, along with social issues and the achievements of our country.

The Chief Guest honoured the students who won prizes in various competitions of the year and then gave her message saying that we need to inculcate patriotism from our childhood. A beautiful song on fostering unity was sung followed by a dance performance by the students. Jeanne, student of Class III delivered the vote of thanks.
