04 Feb Awareness Programme on State wide Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign and Back Pack Safety
In line with our commitment to “Health for All”, our school organized awareness drive on the importance of State wide Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign on February 4, 2017 in the school auditorium. With an august gathering of the parents and teachers of Nursery to Class IX, Principal Sr. Melissa welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest speakers of the day – Dr. Ankith, Medical Officer, Urban Health Centre, Shakthinagar and Mr. Sudeep M J Pais, HOD, Physiotherapy Department, Father Muller’s Medical College.
Dr. Ankit enlightened the parents by giving accurate information regarding the Measles Rubella vaccine. He generated awareness by clearing the doubts about the critical importance of MR Vaccine and its role in achieving sustainable development and global health. It helped the parents and school to be responsible in taking a step in the elimination of Measles and Rubella by the year 2020.
This session was followed by an awareness programme on “Backpack Safety”. Mr. Sudeep M J Pais, gave a well informed outlook about the effects on children carrying heavy school bags. He suggested the need for cooperation at three levels i.e. parents, teachers and the management. He said, “As adults we are required to help bring down this health hazard among all children.” He stressed “the maximum weight of the school bag should not exceed 10 to 15% of the child’s body weight”.
The awareness campaign concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Richa Pinto.
