The head boy Master Ronan Trevor Lobo requested the chief guest to unfurl the National flag. The entire audience saluted the national flag with respect and pride to the tune of the National Anthem played by the school band and spread the positive vibes of patriotism in and around the school grounds.
This was followed by the parade led by the NCC cadets, scouts and guides and students of different houses marching in unison to the rhythmic beats of the school band with pride in their hearts and patriotism up their sleeve.
The celebration further continued in the school auditorium, commencing with all faith prayer. The students accorded a dual welcome of words and dance to the chief guest and the gathering. The cultural programme began with the significance of the day which was well articulated by Ms Siyona of grade 8. The various dances had a volume of poise, perfection and patriotism while the song reminiscenced the struggle and sacrifice of our freedom fighters towards our Republic nation. The students in their MIME act showcased the Fundamental Rights and Constitutional Remedies.
“Our nation is not less than gold” stated the chief guest addressing the gathering and sharing anecdotes of his travel around India as army person. He advised the students not to make the mistake of tattooing on the body as it does not qualify one for defence. He also stated the importance of being physically and mentally fit to join the defence and urged the students to take pride in serving the nation. He also did the honours for the winners of the march past.
The Principal Sr Melissa greeted the chief guest, staff members and the students, wishing them a very Happy 74th Republic day and in her message encouraged everyone to be law abiding citizens. She also congratulated the students of Grade 8C and D for putting a vibrant and patriotic program and reminded the audience to be grateful to God for being born in India which is beautiful and diverse in culture, tradition and language.
The programme was compered by students Arka and Chrisyl. Student Hannah welcomed the chief guest and the vote of thanks was delivered by student Amaan. Sweets were distributed at the end of the programme. The ambience was filled with fervor of gratitude and love for one’s nation.
