15 Aug Celebration of AZAADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAV
“Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav”, the 75th Independence Day of our Nation was celebrated in our school with all glory and pomp on Sunday, 15th of August, to mark the freedom from the British rule.
The audience from the silence of their hearts revered the almighty for the past 75 glorious years of a free Nation. Despite a rainy morn, the nature made way to this celebration. The chief guest, Lt. Col. Piyush Kumar Gupta, Work Officer, Indian Coast Guard, Mangaluru accompanied by the Joint Secretary Sr Maria Anita, Administrator Sr Carissima, Principal Sr Melissa, Vice Principal Sr Lidwyn Pinto and escorted by the school PET’s marched towards the flag post. Chief Guest Lt. Col. Piyush Kumar Gupta then hoisted the tri-colour flag. The National Anthem and the Jhanda Geet were sung by our Staff Choir with pride and patriotism, which added colour to the celebration. The oath was administered by Teacher Purnima reminding us of our duty towards this glorious Nation. Principal Sr Melissa welcomed the chief guest and the gathering. In her welcome address, she re-called and reminisced the first free India speech delivered by the first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. She wished for a Nation free of poverty, inequality and fundamentalism, marching towards a better Nation for generations that follow and yearned for the students to be back to school.
The cultural programme by the staff enveloped the sentiments of oneness, love and loyalty remembering the valiant leaders for their sacrificial role. They also celebrated the victory of the Olympic achievers who brought home glory, on this 75th year of our Independence.
“The Nation is not separated from us, we make the Nation” said the Chief Guest, Lt. Col. Piyush Kumar Guptha, in his address. He expressed his joy to hoist the tri-colour flag on “Azaadi ka Amruth Mahotsav” and cited the significance of hoisting the National Flag. He also emphasized on how one’s thoughts and actions can drive towards a better Nation and urged us to rededicate ourselves towards the growth and prosperity of our Nation.
Teacher Richa Pinto delivered the vote of thanks and the programme was compared by Teacher Zanet.
The celebration and cultural extravaganza, unfolding the theme, “Unity in Diversity” was performed in its entire splendour by the students of Class IX and XI from their homes and the video was uploaded on School’s YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usWhzdKpmAs
Pride and patriotism was etched in the minds of the viewers as the programme concluded.
