Decennium 3 on 3 Inter School Basket ball Tournament

Carmel Decennium 3 on 3 Inter School Basket ball Tournament was inaugurated on November 10th at 9 am on our open air grounds. “Set your children up for games and sports. If they win, they will love it! If they loose, they will learn from it” for life is a true amalgamation of love and learning. The priority of the Inter School basket ball 3 on 3 tournament was to participate and to do their best on the games field.

On the dais were present the chief guest of the day Dr. K.V Rao, guest of honor Dr. Murali Krishna, Sr. Maria Jyothi, Joint Secretary, Sr. Carissima, the Administrator, Mr. Sandeep D’Souza, PTA Vice President and Sr. Melissa the Principal.

Sr. Melissa welcomed and introduced the guests of the day. Hima G. Shetty of class X, the Sports Secretary briefed about the basketball tournament. Dr. Murali Krishna, anesthesiologist – K.S Hegde Medical Academy inaugurated the tournament by shooting the ball into the basket. Being a basket ball player himself not only during his college days, but even now, he cited in his inaugural address that sports support life’s challenges, which keep us fit and perfect. Above all one can cherish these fond memories of the day all through their life.

Soon after the inaugural, the tournament commenced with a sportive spirit. A total of 39 teams from city schools were competing for the Decennium Trophy, both under junior and senior categories for boys and girls separately
The two days Tournament came to an end on 11th November 2017. The winners with pride and enthusiasm, who witnessed the 39 teams playing with gusto to win and nothing less, were waiting to bag the trophy.

Shri Naveen Shetty, President of Mangalore Basket Ball, was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function. The Principal introduced the Chief Guest and welcomed the gathering. The Chief Guest, a Basket Ball player right from his school/college days wished that Mount Carmel continued this practice of conducting Inter School Basket Ball Tournament for young spirited students to grow in their sportive spirit.

The Tournament officials and the scorers were appreciated for their service on both the days of the Tournament. Ms. Sylvia Fernandes read out the names of the winning teams and the dignitaries on the dais honoured the winners with a Trophy, Cash prize and individual trophies.

Senior Girls: Winners – Manipal School
Runner Up – Lourdes Central School
Senior Boys: Winners – Cambridge School
Runner Up – Presidency School

Under each category, the Best Players trophy was given to the following players:

Junior Boys : Shreyas K. – Mount Carmel Central School
Senior Girls : Rashi Shetty – Manipal School
Senior Boys : Ayush Shetty – Cambridge School

Ms. Zanet D’Souza compeered the programme while Ms. Sunitha T delivered the vote of thanks.
