23 Feb “Delicious delight shared by Nursery Kids – 2017”
Food tastes better when you share it with your family and friends. To teach the skill of sharing, ‘Snacks Day’ was celebrated on Thursday 23rd February for the tiny tots of nursery section. Children were asked to bring any 2 types of snacks. The snacks brought by the kids were arranged on 3 tables. The nursery kids happily gathered together for the celebration. It was a delight to see the variety such as cakes, peanuts, chips, biscuits and murku’s.
The children were made to sit in circles to enjoy sharing their snacks with each other. They were taught about healthy food and junk food. Rhymes, jingles and craft related to snack day was taught. Children were also engaged in cotton dabbing activity on the drawn outline of cake, pop corn and chocolate. The cutouts of cup cakes stuck on ice cream sticks were given to them to take home.
To inculcate the concept of colours and improve their fine motor skills, cotton dabbing activity was conducted for them. The outline of a tree was given. The children were taught to dab green colour paint for the leaves and brown colour for the trunk with cotton balls dipped in paint. This helped them to identify the colours as well as to improve their fine motor skills – a small activity to their tiny fingers and muscles, yet a better grip to hold things in their hand. The kids enjoyed the snacks day with its fun and excitement.
