28 May Empowering our Educators through Staff Enrichment Programmes
Our School embarked on its Annual Staff Enrichment Programme from May 22nd to 28th, 2024.
The first day commenced with a serene invocation, symbolizing the alignment of purpose and dedication to the noble cause of education. The Principal, Sr Melissa, in her opening address radiated warmth and optimism, setting a tone of camaraderie and purpose. She warmly acknowledged departing staff members while extending a heartfelt welcome to the newcomers. Following the welcoming, department coordinators were felicitated and were tasked with facilitating seamless collaboration and coordination across various academic departments.
The day continued with the faculty being enriched by distinguished resource persons. Prof. Krishnan Kutty from Kerala delved into the intricacies of the 21st century skills, shedding light on key pillars such as Critical Thinking, Communication, Problem-solving, Collaboration and Creativity. Through interactive sessions and engaging activities, educators gained invaluable insights into fostering holistic development among students.
On the 2nd day, Mrs Rachna Singh, an expert from Mumbai in educational methodologies, illuminated the faculty on the NEP and National Curriculum Framework (NCF), with a specific focus on Competency Based Education and Assessment. Emphasizing the significance of early intervention, she advocated for the integration of application-based and higher-order thinking questions right from the foundational years. Her discourse on effective communication and cultivating reading habits resonated deeply with the educators, underscoring the transformative power of engaging pedagogy.
The Day 3 featured Mr. John Nogueira from Mumbai, who elucidated the concept of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) Goals. Through an amalgamation of insightful presentations, interactive lectures and practical activities, he equipped the staff with the requisite tools to align individual aspirations with institutional objectives. His session served as a catalyst for fostering a culture of accountability and excellence within the school community.
On May 27th, Principal Sr Melissa oriented the staff on the vision, mission, goals, objectives and service rules of the institution. Administrator Sr Carissima briefed the staff on the important qualities that an Apostolic Carmel Educator needs to possess in the teaching learning process.
Mr Leo Amal, senior branch manager of Franklin Templeton Asset Management Pvt Ltd took a session on May 28th afternoon on ‘Retire early and Live longer’ and enlightened the staff on managing their financial resources well and responsibly.
Armed with a collective resolve to champion academic excellence and nurture holistic growth, the educators of our School stand poised to embark on the journey of the 2024-25 academic year, fortified by a shared vision and unwavering commitment to their noble vocation.
