Farewell to Outgoing Students of Grade X and XII 2022-2023

Farewell program for the students of grade X and XII of the academic year 2022-2023 was organised on February 4, 2023.

The Maryhill Chapel was surrounded with the aura of divinity during the thanksgiving Eucharistic Mass celebrated by Rev Fr Rupesh Madtha. In his homily, Fr Rupesh motivated the students to be the salt and light in their own family first and then the society. He told them to follow the three phrases as they move out – Go with God, Grow with God and Glow in God. At the end of the Mass, grade X students made a touching prayer of gratitude to their alma mater, the staff who nurtured them from kindergarten to till date. The students of grade VIII led the meaningful liturgy and the choir.

The farewell program at the school auditorium was organised by the students of Grade IX and XI inscribing a trial of nostalgia in the minds of their seniors. It commenced with a prayer service invoking God’s blessings upon the outgoing students. The lighting of the Diya created an ambience of inner illumination as the outgoing students held their tiny lights high while singing the song ‘This little guiding light of mine…’, promising to carry forward the spark of the divine light they experienced at Mount Carmel, throughout their lives. An indo-western fusion dance was performed welcoming the august gathering. Rayner DSouza and Reona Godwin enthusiastically welcomed the seniors and wished them well. The grade IX choir presented a medley of melodious songs followed by the nostalgic images of the happy times spent by the outgoing students at school. The dancers of grade XI entertained them with an awestruck performance.

Student representatives, Head Boy Ronan Lobo of grade X and Gavin Sequeira of grade XII voiced their heartfelt emotions and experiences in this institution and presented a burse to the school as a token of love and gratitude. The vote of thanks was delivered by the Head Girl Benita Rodrigues. The program was compared by Leon, Ashni, Noah and Nikita.

Further, the administrator, Sr Carissima in her address began by explaining the meaning of farewell that begins with the relationship with their parents who nurtured them and then the relationship with the Alma mater, comprising of the guru that has shaped their lives. Quoting the eminent poet Kabir, she elucidated the importance of a teacher that has guided the student toward the path to God. In conclusion, she wished the students to be a gift to the society and to live a peaceful, hopeful and harmonious life with God fearing values.

The principal, Sr Melissa also addressed the students and thanked them for being a part of Mount Carmel Central School family. She congratulated and appreciated the cabinet leaders for their exemplary leadership qualities shown throughout the academic year and also to those students who have bought laurels to the School. Sr Melissa encapsulating her message around the points of Warren Buffet said, “it’s natural to fail but we must always focus on the three points- Define success by your inner score card, Surround yourself with mentors and Protect your reputation at all cost.” She signified how these points will lead one to success. She also advised the students to follow the school motto “Higher and Nobler” and to never settle down with mundane things. In conclusion, she mentioned that no matter where they go, they will always be a Mount Carmelite. Advising them to focus on their studies she guided the students to never give in to disappointment and to always be hopeful.

The teachers handed over a token of love and gratitude to the students of grade X and XII. The entire staff fraternity then sang a melodious blessing song and blessed the students. The program concluded with a fellowship meal.
