A two-day ‘Carmel Festember’, fancy fete celebration of Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill comprising of lots of games, and other fun activities, started today, Saturday, November 8 at 3.30 pm. The event began with the invocation by the students of the school. Chief Guest Mrs. Manjula Bansal, wife of IGP of Western Range Mr. Amrit Paul, along with the other guests lit the lamp, left the helium balloons and officially inaugurated the event.
Principal of the School, Sr. Melissa A.C, delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests to the audience. The Administrator of MCCS, Sr. Carissima A.C. said, “This is a beautiful moment for all of us. This is relaxation time with family members. We need to wish and pray, that the two day event will be a success and that it achieves its purpose”.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Manjula Bansal said, “I am happy and lucky to be here today. This is the opportunity for the students to showcase their talents”.
The two day ‘Carmel Festember’ would e held on November 8 from 3.30 pm to 8.30 pm and it will continue on November 9 from 11.30 am to 8.30 pm. ‘Festember’ surely was a family entertainer, informed the organizers.
The event will also help in fund raising for spacious auditorium which would accommodate more students for various activities directed towards their all round development.
Mrs. Sylvia Benis proposed the vote of thanks and Hera Pinto compered the programme effectively. Soon after the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries went round to various stalls and relaxed themselves. The large crowd that gathered too enjoyed tingling food to satisfy their taste buds, participated in various games, watched music and dance performed by MCCS students, and simply relaxed to enjoy life with their kids, and friends.
The 2nd day’s main attraction was the “Little Princes and Prince” contest, where 38 cute girls and 25 handsome boys from the ages of 3 to 5 came walked on to the stage, dressed in their very best with grace and poise showcasing their personality and demeanour to vie for the coveted princely crowns laid out for them. This competition among the little children brought in a bit of nostalgia and ecstasy from the audience with a lot of applause as “Downtown Djs” spun the right romping ramp music for the children’s walkathon on stage. The two judges for the Contest namely Mrs. Patsy Lobo and Mrs. Anjana Kamath, both professionals in the field of Education, had a tough time to select the best to suit to be the Little Princess and Prince. Finally when the results were announced, Naman A N (Nursery) became the Little Prince, while Aditya H Shettigar (LKG) bagged the runner-up title, and in the girls section, Anvi Poojary of UKG was crowned as Little Princess, while Krisha (UKG) won the runner-up title. They were crowned and presented with prizes by the Principal, Sr. Melissa A.C and later were taken for a ride in an open jeep around the Fancy Fete venue. Every one of the kids who participated also received a gift.
The day also had other Entertainments that took place from 11.30 am to 9 pm which included – Tug of War; dance performances by MCCS students, Live Band, spot games, Auction, Housie Housie , Lucky draw, etc etc. Food stalls were stormed with hungry people trying to satisfy their taste buds and also fill their “tummy” with “Yummy” delicacies.
At the end, Principal Sr. Melissa A.C extended her gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors, donors, well-wishers, staff, parents and students of MCCS, Media, Police and other Emergency Services, Compeers of the event Hera Pinto and Manoj Louis, and everyone else who made “Carmel Festember” a memorable event and a grand success.
