07 Sep Nativity of Mother Mary and Onam Celebrations
Nativity of Mother Mary and Onam celebrations were held in our school on September 7, 2015. The celebrations began in the morning with the Holy Mass at 8.30 am at Maryhill Chapel. Prior to this day, the Catholic students had novena prayer in preparation for the feast of Mother Mary’s Nativity, during which they honoured Mother Mary with a flower each.
In the afternoon, Class VI A and B together with the tiny tots of UKG had the privilege of hosting the programme of the Nativity of Mother Mary and Onam in the school auditorium. The programme commenced with a prayer song by Class VI followed by welcome speech by Siddanth of Class VI A.
Vedanth of Class VI B gave the significance of the day with the help of a power point presentation. Little ones of UKG presented a folk dance. Onam dance was performed by class VI, highlighting the importance of Onam, a cultural and harvest festival of Kerala.
As September 8th is also the International Day of Girl Child, the students enacted a skit highlighting the importance of Girl child. UKG children honoured Mother Mary on her B’Day with a dance and offering the flowers. Sr. Carissima in her message, highlighted the role of woman as a mother, sister and wife and advised all boys present, to respect the girls and women.
Nathan of Class VI proposed the vote of thanks while Virgil and Moira of Class VI compeered the programme.
