Our 1st day at Mount Carmel

Our 1st day at Mount Carmel

The creative minds of the Apostolic Carmel sisters of Karnataka Province, with an optimistic attitude had a dream and hope of establishing a CBSE School at Maryhill, the suburbs of Mangalore. It was realized on this day when the first batch of 130 students on roll from KG to Class V walked into the portals of the school.

It was a wonderful sight to see the parents accompanying their children with lots of hope, aspirations to witness their buds to blossom forth in this new school housed in a building still under construction with just 6 classrooms ready.

The Primary concern of the school management was to build a society based on principles of love and compassion by empowering the youth through holistic education which in turn will help the students to achieve the school motto ‘Higher & Nobler’.

On the 1st day, the headmistress Sr. Silvian, administrator Sr. Henrita and Sr. Claretta, Superior of Maryhill Convent welcomed the parents at Maryhill Convent gate and led them to the Convent – Sacred Heart Hall for the inaugural prayer and function. Sr. Claretta lighted the lamp along with Sr. Henrita, Sr. Silvian, teacher Mrs. Nandini and 2 students. Ms. Jacqueline read the Word of God, Sr. Premal gave a brief reflection on the Word of God and the other teachers joined in the prayer song and intercessory prayers.

After the prayer service, headmistress Sr. Silvian welcomed the students, parents and staff and briefed them about the aims and objectives of the school and sought the co-operation of all gathered to make the dream of the management of establishing a CBSE school, a reality in due time.
