22 Jul PTA General Body Meeting – 2017
To kick start a new academic year of collaboration of parents and teachers, Mount Carmel Central School organized the PTA General Body Meeting on Saturday, 20th July 2017. The meeting commenced with a short introductory note by the compeer Ms. Anna Crasta, followed by a prayer song by the school choir. Principal Sr. Melissa escorted the dignitaries onto the dais and welcomed the gathering. Dr. Caroline DSouza, the Chief Guest was welcomed with a floral tribute by the Vice President of PTA, Mr. Ananthesh Prabhu.
Sr. Melissa then briefed the parents with the significance of the year 2017-18, being the Decennial Year for the school and listed out the 10 point programme to mark the celebration. She briefed the parents about the change in the CBSE evaluation system. She ended her address by acknowledging the parents for their active involvement during the year and specifically for responding positively to the school for being generous towards the under privileged in shelter homes on special occasions like birthdays of their ward.
This was followed by the felicitation of the top scorers of Class X and XII for the academic year 2016-17. Master Shreejithin of class VII C who represented Karnataka at All-India Roller Relay Skating championship held at Divisional sports stadium, Aurangabad, Maharashtra and represented India at the International Championship held at Bangkok, Thailand and won gold medals at these events was also honoured.
Ms. Sunitha, PTEC member introduced the Chief Guest for the day – Dr Caroline DSouza who spoke on the theme ‘Parenting- An Art’; she further drew the attention of parents on the importance of mental health of a child. She urged parents to follow a few tips like spending quality time with children, avoiding indulgent parenting etc.
The Secretary of PTA, Ms. Richa Pinto read out the report of the PTA of 2016-17. Thereafter, elections of the Executive Committee members were conducted by Sr. Carissima.
Parent body was given some time to voice out their general concerns with regard to school programmes and activities, which were clarified and taken note of by the Principal.
Finally, Mr. Naveen DSouza from Mangalore City Corporation created awareness on waste segregation as a part of the cleanliness drive initiated by the Mangalore City Corporation.
The meeting ended with a vibrant vote of thanks delivered by Ms Amy Silveira, PTEC member.
