Republic Day Celebrations 2020

We celebrated the 71st Republic Day of our country on January 26th at 8.30 am on our school grounds. The ceremony began with the flag hoisting by the Chief Guest Sr Carissima, the Administrator of the school followed by a majestic march past by the school NCC cadets. The students conducted a short prayer service praying for God’s blessings on our country. They also performed a patriotic dance which evoked patriotic feelings in all gathered. Principal Sr Melissa garlanded the photo of Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution. Chief Guest Sr Carissima in her speech highlighted the Preamble of Indian Constitution as the key to understand what India stood for the past 71 years and explained the need to live and promote constitutional values in one’s life.

On the previous day, the cultural program in the school auditorium by Class VI C and D began with prayer invoking God’s blessings. Alistair Pinto and Aakanksh Prabhu warmly welcomed the audience followed by a dance based on services rendered by different sections of people in the society. A group of students brought home to the audience the significance of the day, highlighting the making of our Indian constitution, preamble of Indian Constitution, fundamental rights and duties of Indian citizens. The students added vigour and brightness to the day through patriotic dances.

The nature of linguistic diversity observed in different States of India was presented with a fashion display of traditional clothes from different states of India. Finally a fusion of dance sent the auditorium rocking, pulsating and throbbing to the vibrant music, and receiving wild bursts of applause from the excited audience. At the end of the programme, the talents of our brimming students were acknowledged by awarding them medals and certificates for the various competitions conducted during the 2nd term. The chief guest Ms. Priyanka, lecturer in Chemistry, in her talk appreciated the talents of the students and appealed to them to understand the key words of our Preamble – Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and work to build a clean and corruption free Nation, respecting each other as human beings. Dyan Noel and Tanmay Prabhu proposed the vote of thanks; Reuben, Reona Godwin, Ronan and Ava compeered the programme.

The students of Class I A, B and C hosted the programme for the primary section and took honour in celebrating the spirit of unity and oneness at which Ms. Philomena, our school counsellor graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Tanish and Aishwarya welcomed the gathering with their warm words of welcome. The significance of Republic day, the struggle for a republic country, fundamental rights and our rich cultural heritage was screened with a PPT presentation. The Chief Guest in her message urged the students to abide by the rules beginning with home, school and society. She also highlighted the key words of our India Constitution. The students showcased the unity and love for our country through skit and dance recitals. The prize winners of the various competitions conducted during the 2nd term were felicitated. Jerusha and Jaelon proposed the vote of thanks. The National anthem was sung with pride and patriotism.
