01 Jun School Reopening Utsav 2017-18
The academic year 2017-18 reopened at Mount Carmel with a bang on Thursday, 1st June. All the corridors of the school were alive with the hustle and bustle. The Children were back on track, rushing to meet their friends after a refreshing summer break, checking out new classrooms, new class teacher and new class groups, thus experiencing and expressing the joy of the first day’s session which rushed on in a haze of excitement and was over and out with the blink of an eye.
The students lined up to the auditorium at 9.00 am for a Prayer Service and were seated in an orderly manner. Sr. Melissa our Principal warmly welcomed the students to the new academic year and the new comers were extended a warm welcome into the Mount Carmel’s fraternity with a big applause by the other students. The students of std. X-A and X-B conducted a thematic prayer service captioned ‘The Optimism of Youth and The Love for Learning’. The introducer spoke of optimism being the key to unlocking great gifts that will be available each and every day this year. That was followed by a presentation of a hymn ‘Lead me Lord’.
The scripture reading from Luke 18:15-17 ‘…Jesus says, let the children come to me …..’ to which a teacher leader elucidated on the scripture along with the presentation of a song ‘Let the children come to me’. A prayer of petition and thanks giving was made. The prayer service ended with the universal prayer “Our Father”.
When the Principal introduced the new teachers, Sr. Carrissima the administrator welcomed them with a fragrant rose, into the Mount Carmel Family. The programme concluded with the singing of the school song and the National Anthem.
The year 2017-18 being the Decennial year for Mount Carmel, it’s first project, the extension block for classes III A, B, C, D was blessed by Fr. Ronald D’Souza, manager, Codialbail Press. The 2 classrooms in the 2nd floor were inaugurated by Sr. Sylvette A.C, retired professor of Geography, St. Agnes College and the 2 classrooms in the 1st floor were inaugurated by Sr. Carissima A.C., the administrator of our school. There was river bating sound of applause as the ribbon was cut and the children joyfully entered their new class rooms with great verve and enthusiasm.
