Five day Global School Partnership Program

Five day Global School Partnership Program

Principal Sr. Melissa and Ms. Sujatha Albuquerque visited U.K for a five-day Global School Partnership programme from September 25 – September 30, with Greenbank Primary School, Rochdale, U.K.

Sr. Melissa and Ms. Sujatha arrived at Manchester airport around 7.30 am (Indian time – 12 noon). One of the Staff of Green Bank School, Mrs. Amina and Mr. John D’Silva received them at the airport. The accommodation was arranged at Leighton House. After the breakfast, my brother left to his home and we rested a while and then in the evening at 3pm, Mrs. Sandra Hartley, the Head Teacher of Greenbank took us to her residence for dinner, attended the Sunday Mass at 6 pm and returned to our restaurant. On 26th we were warmly welcomed by the Head Teacher Ms. Sandra Hartley, the staff and students of Greenbank School at 9 am at the entrance of the school with a bouquet of flowers and the students waving the flags of UK and India. This was followed by a welcome assembly where each class performed something – either singing a song, action song or a dance. Then they took us round the school to different classes where each class performed something related to our joint project – culture and environment.

We were also taken to 3 neighbouring schools, one of them is a special school. In the evenings, we visited some of the historic places like the Rochdale Town Hall, Manchester Cathedral and City. It was indeed a wonderful and enriching time to be with our partner school and was a great learning experience and an opportunity to strengthen the bonds between the 2 schools. We left our restaurant Leighton House, Rochdale on October 1st and proceeded to Boston, Lincolnshire to my brother’s place. We visited London on October 3rd – London Bridge, Palace, and other tourist places and on 3rd night, Ms. Sujatha travelled back to India and I stayed on in UK for a few more days with my brother.
