27 Jul Shiksha Saptah 2024 : Day 6 – Eco Club for Mission Life Day/School Nutrition Day
The Eco Club for Mission Life Day was held on Saturday, 27th July 2024, as part of the Shiksha Saptah Day 6 celebrations. The event focused on promoting environmental sustainability and featured enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and parents, with a total of 725 students, 16 teachers and 11 parents joining in the activities.
The day began with the morning assembly conducted by the Eco Club members who highlighted on the significance of the day. Under the guidance and leadership of the Principal Sr Melissa and Administrator Sr Carissima, students were a part of ‘#Plant4Mother’, a plantation drive as part of the celebration. The Administrator delivered a motivating speech on environmental conservation and handed over saplings to the primary school students and their mothers. The Principal in her address to the Eco Club students encouraged them to take on the role of Eco-warriors and be more responsible in caretaking of the nurturer i.e mother nature and their own mothers. She then handed over saplings to Shresta, President of the Eco Club as a symbolic gesture of sharing the responsibility of nurturing mother earth with the next generation.
Students of the Anthurium House visited the homes in and around the vicinity of the school and presented saplings to them to achieve with goals of the Eco Club Mission for Life.
Many students had taken Geo tagged images with their mothers alongside the saplings nurtured by them and holding placards bearing their names which were then emailed to the school.
Nawal Poojary of grade XI shared his knowledge of variouswater plantsand aquarium management through a demonstration to the students of grade 5 and grade 11.
The Scouts and Guides also celebrated Green Day by exhibiting various floral and herbal plants grown and nurtured by them andalso shared information about its uses with the Cubs and Bulbuls during their regular Friday meeting.
The junior school students enjoyed and shared nutritional snacks during their snacks break as part of Nutritional Day celebration, while the senior grades participated in a workshop and learnt about prevention and care during illnesses such as Dengue, Malaria, Filaria and Chickengunea. School Nurse Philomena Pinto also briefed the students on healthy meals and breakfast, lunch, dinner as well tea breaks diet while having fever or any sickness.
The event successfully fostered a sense of community and environmental responsibility among participants, aligning with the mission of Shiksha Saptah.
