19 Nov Winter Festember 2017 – A Part of Decennial Celebration
It was a day out for the students, parents and well wishers of our school at the Decennial Festember held on the school grounds on 18th and 19th November as a last activity of the 10 point programme of the School’s Decennial celebration.
Inauguration of the Festember was unique where in the chief guests Mr. James D’ Souza and Mrs. (Dr.) Glanys DSouza along with the vice president of the PTA Mr. Sandeep D’Souza accompanied by Joint Secretary Sr. Maria Jyothi, Administrator Sr. Carissima and Principal Sr. Melissa in an open jeep driven by Mr. Alwyn Pais, a parent of our school.
The school band with the head girl and head boy holding the school flag, directed the guests to the stage with pomp and honor. Principal Sr. Melissa cited the importance of holding the fete which provides the platform for the overall development of the students than the mere fund raising though for a social cause. As part of the inaugural ceremony, the guests lit 10 Diyas and released 10 balloons symbolizing the 10 years and Mr. DSouza declared the Festember open while there were claps of hands thundering from the audience. The chef guest gave a short message of appreciation for organizing such an event.
It was a wonderful day filled with much laughter, fun and family spirit building activities. The games Tin Bowling, Fortune wheel, feeding the joker, Fishing Pond, Minute to Minute etc and the Jumping Castle kept the gathering enthralled. The different snack stalls boosted the energy of everyone who encouraged the different fill- in- thrillers on the stage. The Young and Grand ramp walk thrilled the audience with the youthful spirit of the grandparents and the kids. The winners of this event were- junior category – Eva Chris Saldanha and her grand mother Flavia Nirmala Sequeria and Senior category – Leanne Gonsalves and grand father Joseph Rasquinha. The rides, games, food arena, dancing and live entertainment were all extremely well planed and organized by the fete committees.
The second day, 19th November of the Festember 2017 brought out all the excitement and exuberance to the already vibrant atmosphere of Saturday evening which brought in nearly 2000 parents and public to the campus.
The Dancing Stars from various schools kept the environment fascinating. Who is the winner? It was a question mark to everyone- under senior category St Aloysius PU College and in junior category, Mount Carmel Central School – was the judges’ final verdict. The student M.C’s in their Royal Blue Festember T-Shirts danced to their hearts content, drawing in their teachers and other students into the circle to the lively music played by the drummers. The A.J Hospital First Aid personnel were ready to attend to any accidental case.
The auction of cocks and cakes, vegetables from the organic farms of parents, the paintings of students and finally the grand lucky draw was watched by many eager eyes who were hoping to be among the lucky few to win a prize. The closing was spectacular with the stage decorated with prizes and the sponsors of these prizes welcoming the winners there by exposing them to a wide audience as the prizes were distributed.
The hand- in – labor of love of all the parents, the students and the teachers is displayed in this event. The students trained for announcements and emceeing and the volunteers at the stalls in marketing skills, the performance on the stage made this event a real day to be proud of by every parent. Yes the passion in the minds did fuse with compassion in the hearts of all present for this noble social cause. Thanks to the Festember 2017 Committees and all the parents, staff, students who made these two days wonderful and memorable for MCCS family.
