22 Feb World Thinking Day – ‘Connect’ 2016
The Scouts and Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls of Mount Carmel Central School came together to celebrate the World Thinking Day on Monday, February 22, 2016.
This day is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Baden Powell, founder of the Boy Scout Movement, and Lady Olave Baden-Powell, who was World Chief Guide. It is also a day where we cherish and appreciate the help and guidance of brother Scouts and sister Guides from around the world and address their concerns on various issues and understand the true meaning of Scouting and Guiding.
The theme “CONNECT” for the World Thinking Day 2016 is chosen to celebrate the meaningful connections that make our lives better, whether to the people closest to us, to a place we care about, or to a Girl Guide or Girl Scout friend on the other side of the world.
The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through an inter-faith prayer. The significance of the day was given through a PowerPoint presentation by Ashwini of class IV. The strong spirit of patriotism among the students was instilled through a patriotic song followed by a patriotic dance performance.
Our Principal, Sr. Melissa addressed the gathering with her inspiring words and enlightened the students about the importance of celebrating the World Thinking Day and the theme of the year “Connect”. In her address, she encouraged the students to join this movement which will help their all-round development.
Guider Varsha welcomed the gathering, while Guider Saanvi proposed the vote of thanks. Scouter Craig and Guider Samruddhi compeered the programme.
